There is something fundamental about the use of dots to make patterns. Both my sons have used dot patterns when making their first drawings as infants. Dot patterns are to be found in tribal and primitive cultures throughout the world; prehistoric rock carvings in Britain tend to focus on dots and circles.
I like to use these tribal and ancient influences in my work, and make them my own. I have used dot patterns to achieve several effects and to reflect various real-world images - falling leaves, crops and bushes, and condensation on a window.
