It occurs to me that with few exceptions, the process of making a new carving leads to at least one minor injury.
Inevitably there are a few cuts from time-to-time when working with very sharp tools, and hours spent sanding and resanding the hard-to-reach crevices often results in scrapes or blisters.
I don't mind it so much, as long as I continue to stop short of lopping off a finger. There is always a price to be paid for achieving anything of significance, whether that is the time and effort involved in creation, or the time and effort involved in study, practice and gradual improvement over the years.
These cuts and scrapes are part of this price - a blood sacrifice in exchange for a successful outcome.
